First meeting of the Club

Rotary Club of Regency Park

The first meeting of the Provisional Rotary Club of Regency Park was held at the Overpass Tavern, Ovingham on Tuesday, 2 October 1979. Provisional Rotarian Ernie Nagy was installed as the President of the Provisional Club on 8 July 1980.

Membership of the Provisional Club continued to grow slowly and when that number reached 24, a formal Application for Charter was made to Rotary International. The Board of RI granted our Charter on 28 October 1980 and President Ernie Nagy thus became our Charter President.

The Club’s Charter Night took place on 29 November 1980 when our Charter was presented in front of approximately 240 Rotarians and guests from both Districts 950 and 952 [now 9500 and 9520]. Charter membership of the Rotary Club of Regency Park was 24.

The Rotary Club of Regency Park welcomes all visitors – please check the right side column of this website for the meeting locations and times.
